The company Volvo has introduced its model a hybrid coupe with a price tag of between 155,000 $ Polestar 1, but it is doubtful that the car will be in great demand because of the price. But now the company is preparing a new model of Polestar 2, which will be competitor for Tesla Model 3.
Polestar 1 stunning premium sports car with plug-in hybrid, but the price tag of $ 155,000 will put it in the segment of reach for most consumers. However, the premium division of Volvo has already announced plans for Polestar 2, which will compete with the Tesla Model 3.
The company has not talked a lot about Polestar 2, but overseas edition of Evo, citing its own sources, reported that the model will be presented at the Geneva motor show 2019. The publication also says that the sedan will be built on the compact modular architecture Volvo (CMA) and is likely to have a unique design.
Unfortunately, there is no information about upcoming technical specifications, but earlier it was reported that the company intends to equip the car battery, capable to provide the car a range of up to 500 km. If the company fulfill its promise, the model will get the same cruising range as a Tesla Model 3 with battery increased capacity.
In addition to the reserve, the company plans to equip the car not only a large reserve but relatively high power, as well as Öhlins suspension and brake system Akebono as Polestar 1.
At the moment there is no official information, but it is obvious that the company really aims to compete with Tesla Model 3. In its current configuration the base version of the Tesla can accelerate to 100 km/h in 5.1 seconds and reach a top speed of 225 km/h. Tesla also offers a high performance version of Model 3, which can accelerate to “hundreds” of 3.5 seconds. The maximum speed is limited to around 250 km/h.
In addition, it became known that the upcoming Polestar model 3 will be the cross coupe, which will be focused on the handling, design and “something special”. The model will have an electric drivetrain, and its production is planned to start in late 2021.
