TROIS-RIVIÈRES – Mauricie and Centre-du-Québec, in the platform, “I can help” has recruited 800 workers. Among the new hires, there are 345 aids service, 155 attendants to housekeeping, 102 orderlies and 69 nurses.
Jamie-Lee Buri went to lend a hand. She is a patient care attendant for more than two weeks. The 21-year-old has put away his uniform of stewardess to help in a CHSLD. In the month of April, she was laid off, like thousands of workers in the airline industry because of the health crisis.
“I decided to come back home with my parents. I had already attended a course as a nurse,” said Ms. Buri.
Since the beginning of the month, she works at CHSLD Roland-Leclerc in Trois-Rivières.
She has decided to offer his free time to care for elders. “I try to take time with the residents to talk to them and they tell me their day. This work dealt with by me and I know that I make the difference”, she continued.
The CHSLD Roland-Leclerc, 23 people were hired in the last few weeks thanks to the site “I can help”.
On the 427 health-care workers who have contracted the COVID-19 in the Mauricie and Centre-du-Québec, more than half are recovered and return to work.
Jamie-Lee Buri intends to return to live his passion in the air.
For the moment, this “guardian angel” has other priorities on earth, including that of whether to invest in the fight against sars coronavirus.
