A motorcyclist was killed Wednesday evening in a work area on Highway 440 East in Laval. Speed could be involved.
His passenger was also seriously injured, as well as a worker who was on the road site between Montée Saint-François and Highway 25 (km 34).
“We fear for the life of the passenger of the motorcycle and the worker, whose sex and age are unknown for the moment,” Sergeant Claude Denis, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec, told QMI Agency. (SQ).
He added that “speed would probably have played a role in the accident” and that witnesses will be met.
According to information shared by the SQ, the motorcycle was traveling around 9 p.m. in the left lane, in this portion of Highway 440 East where there are three lanes. He allegedly attempted to avoid service vehicles in the left lane, passed an impact damper truck and returned to the left lane where he struck a worker and then a construction van. . The motorcyclist and his passenger were ejected.
Highway 440 East was closed to traffic from Pie-IX Boulevard and two SQ re-enactors were called in.
