Siemens has introduced a new high-speed train Velaro Novo. The presentation was held within the framework of the world’s largest railway exhibition InnoTrans.
The new-generation model will cost 20 % cheaper and 30% less energy than the previous line of Velaro. The Siemens development will move at a speed of from 250 to 360 km / h.
The weight of the train was reduced to 15 percent. At the same time, the available space for passengers has increased by 10 %.
Body composition is based on the concept of the empty tube inside no stationary interior. The customer can modify the interior to fit their needs.
The developers promise that maintenance costs will decrease due to the new measurement and sensor technologies.
Recall, the Velaro trains are in commercial operation since 2000. Siemens began work on the concept of the Velaro Novo in 2013. Test of new structure from April started throughout Germany. To put into operation the first trains of the plan in 2023.
