Eugenie Bouchard and the Smash of Chicago were enjoying their first victory, by a score of 24 to 18, in their first match of the World TeamTennis (WTT), on Sunday against the Rollers of Vegas.
However, the duo of Bouchard and Bethanie Mattek-Sands lost 5-4 (3) during their duel in the women’s doubles against Asia Muhammad and Kristie Ahn.
The teammates of Bouchard, or the Americans, Brandon Nakashima, Sloane Stephens, Rajeev Ram, and Evan King have performed well in other rounds of the match.
Nakashima was first defeated Sam Querrey by a score of 5-3 in men’s singles. Then Stephens has been mercilessly face Monica Puig, the unravelling to the account of 5-1 in women’s singles. Mattek-Sands and Ram have chained a third win in a row for the Smash during the double joint, inflicting a defeat of 5-4 (3) Muhammad and Mike Bryan.
The Smash ended his work day with a defeat of 5-4 (2) of Ram, and Nakashima in men’s doubles against Bob Bryan and his brother. Ram and Nakashima, however, have won the extra point.
The next match of the Smash will take place on Tuesday, against the Storm at Orlando.
Usually played in several cities in the United States, the edition 2020 of the tournament is entirely played in West Virginia
The WTT is a form of tournament played as a team. Each round, contested in the best-of-five points, is played according to a different scenario (single male and female, double male, female and mixed). The best team in the rollup of five rounds win the game.
