Most of the aircraft UIA technically ready to launch Wi-Fi on Board, the catch only in regulatory issues, informs Rus.Media.
This was announced by the President of the company, Yuri Miroshnikov.
According to him, the new service of satellite Internet in the plane of MAU has planned, even when he signed a contract for the supply of aircraft Boeing 777-200ER.
But as previously none of the Ukrainian carriers of such a service is not provided, that is, the need to adapt Ukrainian legislation to European standards.
In particular, MAU need to obtain permission to use frequencies in the band 14-14. 5 GHz, which requires inclusion in the Plan of radio frequency resource use and approval of the relevant government agencies.
As described in the company, the project has already received the support of the national Commission on communications and Informatization, Ukrchastotnadzor, state service of special communication.
At the moment a draft resolution of the government passes the coordination in the Ministry of Infrastructure and Public air.
According to forecasts, the regulatory part of the project could be completed by the end of March.
After that, the company will be able to start the wifi service fast enough.
“Technically we have everything ready for it,” – said Miroshnikov.
