If the experts of the national hockey League (NHL) are all on the very high probability that Alexis Lafrenière be the first player selected in the upcoming draft, there are always questions about the type of hockey player he can become.
The Québécois will it be an exceptional as Connor McDavid or Sidney Crosby? Will there be more of a career like the one of Taylor Hall or Vincent Lecavalier?
According to his agent, Émilie Castonguay, Lafrenière belongs to the first group.
“The first thing I notice when he is on the ice or every time he touches the puck, it is that the game slows down, said the director of the firm’s Momentum Hockey in the network Sportsnet. There are not many players capable of doing this. Since he was very young and at all levels, this is what he has been able to do. The fact that he has been able to do that wherever he has played shows, to me, that he is a player of franchise or talent of generation.”
“I think time will prove this, she continued. I have no doubt in my mind that it will be able to reproduce this with the professionals and he will be a player of the franchise for the training which will have the chance to choose.”
“He makes players around him much better”
In 2019-2020, Lafrenière completed his third season with the Océanic of Rimouski and has represented his country at the world Championship of junior hockey. He has amassed 112 points in 52 games in the major junior hockey League and earned 10 points in five games with the maple leaf flag.
Castonguay, who works with the skater for a few years, appoint two elements that explain why she believes that Lafrenière is an exceptional.
“I think he makes the players around him so much better. He anticipates games that always lead to scoring chances. I think that what we have detected quickly in him, it is his intelligence and his desire to compete. This is what stands out the most in him”, she expressed.
In his last season, the native of St-Eustache was also demonstrated that it was not only a machine offensive, but that it was also an excellent player in his or her area.
“He becomes a player very complete, and I think it is another proof of his passion for the sport, his dedication and his desire to always want to improve,” said Castonguay.
