All cases of COVID-19 cured in a residence of the Mauricie

Tous les cas de COVID-19 guéris dans une résidence de la Mauricie

The 32 residents of the Gardens Latourelle, in Louiseville, which have had a positive diagnosis to the COVID-19 since the beginning of the month of April are now completely restored. It’s the same for 17 employees of the establishment.

The last infected person has passed his third test negative on Friday.

“We are relieved, it is really a good news! All the world is restored, we can finally say that we passed through,” says Jessica Lambert Fandal, director of communications for the residence.

Bertrand Bourgeois, a resident of 55 years of age, has contracted the coronavirus at the end of march. But since 3 weeks, he has spent his tests negative and does not feel any more no symptoms, a situation that is encouraging, according to him.

“All the world is healed on the first and on the second floor, we’re really happy […] I’ll also have a better understanding today, but when I was sick, I was afraid I would die! The worst is behind us”, explains Bertrand Bourgeois.

Not the same scenario everywhere

However, the situation is not the same everywhere. The special care unit of the Villa Louiseville now has 14 cases, and the residence of Michelle and Daniel, for her part 4 people infected.

The municipality of Louiseville expected to see further outbreaks. The mayor Yvon Deshaies is realistic. He understands that the situation was going to happen one day in his municipality, but he grieves all the same that seniors also depart abruptly.

“It is sure that we would have a strong case, it is a global crisis! It is not different here, in Louiseville, than elsewhere. It is a pity to see it! I was told that the staff takes care of the residents and they are treated very well. I wish the best for all of these people here,” says Yvon Deshaies.

At Three Rivers, 6 private residences are also affected, with 92 people who have been reported as positive to the COVID-19.

The last balance sheet for the Mauricie and Centre-du-Quebec shows an increase of 29 cases Saturday, bringing the total to 1545.

One more person died in the last few hours, for a total of 120 in the region since the beginning of the crisis.
