The caucus bloquiste has given its unanimous support to his leader Yves-François Blanchet, on Sunday morning, a few hours before that he would hold a press conference to respond to allegations of harassment and sexual assault relating to it.
The 31 members of the Bloc québécois have ensured, in a short statement sent to the media, to be convinced “that the anonymous allegations made against [Yves-François Blanchet] are false”. “We support them without hesitation”, said the mps.
“The Bloc Quebecois is a staunch advocate of the law society and has worked, since its foundation, to the improvement of the living conditions of women and men in Quebec. This is what we were elected and that is what we will continue to make with our chef, Yves-François Blanchet”, one can read in the statement.
The principal has summoned the press to a press conference, Sunday at 13: 30, to make the point about the allegations.
Yves-Francois Blanchet was named in an anonymous publication on the page Facebook Hyenas in petticoats, on Tuesday evening, where a woman was told that he would have kissed her without her consent and would have harassed her for having a sexual relationship, in the margin of an album launch of singer Isabelle Boulay at the end of the 1990s.
“I picked it up, after a moment, in the toilet with YF, alleged the woman. He invited me to do the coke. Once in the bathroom, he wanted a sexual relationship in exchange for his coke. I said, “No!” He insisted. I continued to say “No!” He was against the door, kissed me without my consent, lifted my skirt,” wrote the alleged victim in the publication.
The leader bloquiste had denied “unequivocally” these allegations the next day, through a spokesman of the federal party.
