American kitchen: jambalaya with rice and sausage

The jambalaya is cooked with rice and all that is in the house.

As they say in the American state of Louisiana, where this dish “Jambalaya made with rice and all that is in the house”. And indeed it is. But rice in jambalay add onions, Apium graveolens Dulce and sweet green pepper. And everything else – at your discretion, informs Rus.Media.


  • Bay leaf – 3 PCs.
  • Rice – 2 cups
  • Chicken fillet – 2 PCs.
  • Garlic – 4 cloves
  • Salt – to taste
  • Celery – 1 stalk
  • Onion – 1 PC.
  • Green bell pepper – 1 PC.
  • Cayenne pepper – to 0.25 tsp
  • Vegetable oil – 2 tbsp
  • Sausage – 250 g
  • Chicken broth – 4 cups
  • Spicy ketchup – 1 tbsp


Onions and garlic are clear. Onion cut into half rings, crush the garlic. Sweet pepper and celery wash; pepper cut into 4 pieces, remove core. The flesh of the peppers and celery chop them. Chicken breast and sausage cut into small pieces.

Heat in a saucepan the oil and fry the chicken pieces and chorizo about 5 minutes. Add the onion, garlic, peppers and celery. Season Kinski pepper, black pepper and salt, mix and cook 5 minutes.

Wash rice, add to the pot. Cook, stirring constantly, 2 minutes. Pour in the chicken broth. Put on top of Bay leaves. Over high heat bring the jambalaya to a boil, then reduce the heat, cover the pan with a lid and cook for 20 minutes. Add hot sauce, stir, spread on a large plate and serve.
