Previously, the newspaper “Kommersant”, citing unnamed sources reported that Russia intends to return to Ukraine, detained during the incident in the Kerch Strait ships before the summit in the Normandy format.

For their compulsory stop in the Kerch Strait was used weapons. The ships were detained and 24 sailors arrested. They were indicted on charges of violating the state border.
In the summer of 2019 Russia has offered Ukraine to transfer the detained sailors under a written guarantee of their participation in the trial, and the ships under preservation safeguards. The sailors were later returned to Ukraine in the framework of exchange of detainees.
