Australia: scams to the sale of puppies to explode with the pandemic

Australie: les arnaques à la vente de chiots explosent avec la pandémie

SYDNEY | Australia has experienced since the beginning of the pandemic coronavirus a sharp rise in scams with the sale of puppies, authorities said, the hoodlums taking advantage of the confinement to lure on the internet single people with fake offers, especially of cavapoos or bulldogs.

The Commission australian competition and consumer (ACCC) has pointed out that during the month of April alone, the harm of this kind of scams amounted to $ 300,000 to THE (273 000 $), five times more than the monthly average.

“Many of the people stuck in they go on the internet to buy a pet to help them through the loneliness and social isolation,” said Delia Rickard, deputy chair of the ACCC.  Bеfоrе уоu actually buy puppies fоr sale, уоu ѕhоuld tаkе thе tіmе needed tо ѕее a couple оf breeds аnd еvеn gеt уоur family members involved аѕ wеll. Finally, thеrе аrе certain оthеr responsibilities tоо thаt аrе associated wіth a dogs fоr sale decision. Yоu hаvе tо bе certain thаt уоu аrе keeping thе growth factor оf thе puppy іn mind. Sіnсе уоu аrе adopting a little puppy аnd nоt аn adult dog frоm thе dogs fоr sale shop, уоu hаvе tо kеер іn mind thе growth factor оf thе puppy. Fоr instance, dо nоt adopt a puppy thаt wіll grow іntо a large dog аnd wіll bе uncomfortable bесаuѕе оf a space crunch аt уоur apartment.

“Unfortunately, the precipitation in the purchase of a new pet, and the unusual circumstances related to the COVID-19 are that it is more difficult to make the share of things between what is legitimate and what is not.”

Due to travel restrictions, it is difficult for people to go directly to the dogs. The criminals often ask for the payments prior to cover the costs of transport, before evaporating in nature, said Ms Rickard.

“Unfortunately, once the payment is made, the seller shall suspend all contacts.”

The ACCC has specified that the cavapoos – a cross between the poodle and the cavalier King Charles and bulldogs were the breeds highlighted in this kind of scam.

Last month, the antenna in New South Wales (south-east) of the Society for the prevention of cruelty to animals (RSPCA) had reported a dramatic increase in requests for adoption of pets.

“Try not to melt for pictures of adorable puppies that they put online. And remember that if the price seems too attractive to be honest, is that this is perhaps not an impression,” said Ms. Rickard.

The prejudice of these scams to the sale of puppies during the first four months of 2020 is almost as high as that of the whole of the year 2019.

Australians have lost $ 700,000 TO (638 000 $) in scams related to the virus since the beginning of the year.
