BMW, Peugeot and Ford taught the machines to communicate with each other
5G Association Automotive Association, with the support of BMW Group, Ford and PSA held the first demonstration of a working system of communication between vehicles of different brands and road infrastructure.
The technology, called C-V2X, will be put into commercial operation in 2020.
In demonstration races involved two elektroskutery BMW as well as cars Ford, DS, BMW and Peugeot. All vehicles were equipped with communication modules based on the chipset Qualcomm 9150.
During the demonstration, was shown working e-brake, the function of warning of a possible collision at an intersection, when turning, of reports of cars slowly moving, and alert pedestrians. It is noted that C-V2X can work even outside the range of the network.
