Earlier this month, photospin provided a series of pictures, showing quite an interesting prototype of the BMW X2. First, all agreed that this is a test machine for all-electric version of the coupe-crossover, but it turned out that the assumption may be wrong.
BMW Blog reports that the Bavarian company is not going to work on EV X2. The information comes from sources close to the company.
In fact, the black prototype from last week, is likely the upcoming hybrid plug-in X2, which was spotted again in November of this year.
It is believed that X2 PHEV will share its hybrid powertrain with the X1 xDrive25e, which means it will use a 1.5-liter turbocharged gas engine in cooperation with an electric motor driving the rear axle. Total system power is 220 horsepower with a maximum torque of 385 Newton metres.
