Russia should immediately release Ukrainian political prisoners Oleg Sentsov, Oleksandr Kolchenko, Aleksandra shumkova and Vladimir Baloga, detainees and convicts for their opposition to the illegal annexation of Crimea, reads the statement the Ministry of foreign Affairs of great Britain, published on the website of the British Embassy in Ukraine.
“We are very concerned for the health of four Ukrainians held by Russia and declared fasting in protest against the prolonged imprisonment of Ukrainian political prisoners. Their prison sentences and the detention of many other Ukrainians sent to places of deprivation of liberty by the Russian authorities, appear politically motivated. We call on Russia to release them immediately”, — said the speaker of the foreign Ministry of great Britain.
He also stressed that the control of the Russian Federation over Crimea continues to be illegal and illegitimate, and is a gross violation of numerous international obligations of the Russian Federation.
