Sumarroca, Cava Gran Reserva 2016, Brut Nature
17,15 $ – SAQ Code : 13408929 – 12 % – 3.2 g/L
A few weeks ago, compiling my notes on the sparkling wines tasted during the marathon of the next Guide to wine, I read again my comments ultra-positive about this gross nature of the cellar Sumarroca and I wondered : had I been too enthusiastic ? This cava, modest by its price, should it really be such a dithyramb?
The next morning, I stumbled upon the chronicle of my dear colleague John Aubry, log The Duty, who noted that this wine was ” the best deal in the area of bubbles on the current market “. The little girl is insecure in me, the one who cultivates the doubt, could sleep in peace. If I was wrong, I was not alone.
What wine ! The nose seduces with aromas of nuts and scones fresh out of the oven, the bubbles are very fine (36 months maturing on the lees), creating a foam that caresses the palate ; the flavours persist in a long finish fruity, salty and umami. A lot of relief and aromatic nuances. Really, at 17,15 $, it boggles.
