Coffee is one of the most popular soft drinks around the world. But its excess can lead to serious health problems – increase of pressure and, as a consequence, the development of heart disease.
Scientists from the University of South Australia found that the maximum dose, which can be considered safe, is six cups a day. When exceeding this threshold the risk of heart disease increases by 22%, according to
“What is our life? Game!”“World mind games”: the premiere of “the World,” the study’s Authors analyzed data on the health status 347 077 people aged 37 to 73 years.
The participants had a common feature – the increased activity of the gene CYP1A2, responsible for processing of caffeine.
It was believed that such people refreshing drink in principle can’t hurt. But new data have disproved this myth.
“Six cups was a dose after which the caffeine has a negative impact on the risk of cardiovascular disease,” said Professor Elina Hypponen.
However, for people who do not have such variations of a gene, the maximum dose may be even lower.
According to statistics, every day the world is consumed approximately three billion cups of coffee.
There are a large number of studies demonstrating the harm and benefit of this drink.
Scientists say that, as in many other cases, “all thing in moderation”.
Previously, other experts said the best time for a Cup of coffee. According to them, drinking it immediately after waking up is not necessary, as in the body high levels of the hormone cortisol – it is better to wait at least until 9:30 in the morning.
