Archival photoof the self-proclaimed Head of the Luhansk people’s Republic, Leonid beekeeper said that LNR ready to dialogue with Kiev on the condition that he will extend the law on the special status of Donbass.The law on the special status of Donbass was adopted by the Verkhovna Rada in 2014, but never put into effect. In the fall of 2018, the Ukrainian Parliament extended until the end of 2019. The document says that the special status for the region will come into force after the fulfillment of certain conditions, in particular the withdrawal of “illegal armed groups” from these territories.
“The validity of the law on the special status is one of the points of the Minsk agreements. If Ukraine is to renew, then, under current legislation, this must be agreed with our representatives of the contact group in Minsk,” – said beekeeper a straight line.Chapter LNR said that to date, the Minsk agreements are the main platform for negotiations between the republics of Donbass and Kiev. “If Kiev will go to the agreement and the special status of Donbass will be extended, we are ready for further dialogue, for further implementation of the Minsk agreements. Of course, we want as quickly as possible to end the war in the Donbass, and to finish it peacefully,” added the beekeeper.
The head of the Republic said that the law should be extended, it is necessary to register in the Constitution of Ukraine. “If Kiev does not agree to such agreement and not to extend the law on the special status of Donbass, in our life, especially it will not change. Together we, the entire country decided to integrate with the Russian Federation. We are confidently moving in this direction of integration with the Russian Federation… renewal of the law does in our lives will not affect”, – said the beekeeper.
