SAGUENAY | employees of the Company chemin de fer Roberval-Saguenay, which is a property of Rio Tinto, agreed to a new agreement for work on Friday.
The 80 union members of the company have agreed to 85% offer employers, which includes a premium of responsibility for the drivers of the locomotive.
“In our business, there is no room for error. The rules and procedures are very strict, everything must be set to a quarter turn. The premium liability that is being put in place just to recognize this particular reality”, explained the president of the local, Daniel Girard, in a press release from the united Steelworkers.
In addition, the new agreement should help to bring jobs in-house, within the union certification.
“The bargaining committee has worked together, it was well prepared and we felt the support of the members. This is what has allowed us to conclude a good contract, adapted to the realities of the railway field,” said the union representative Alexandre Fréchette.
