BEIJING | China has identified no new death of the Covid-19 in the past 24 hours, announced on Tuesday that the authorities, three months after the first death recorded in this country.
The asian giant, where the novel coronavirus emerged in late 2019, reported a first death on the 11th of January last. Since then, 3 331 people have died from the disease in the country.
After having passed one hundred mid-February, the daily number of new deaths has steadily reduced since then to fall to a single death, announced Monday by the ministry of Health, and then zero on Tuesday.
The new cases of contamination are also declining steadily since the beginning of march, but the country is facing a second wave of infections imported from abroad, with almost a thousand cases combined, according to the ministry.
The organization has state on Tuesday of 32 new cases of contamination, all of which are originally imported. The authorities have also been 30 new asymptomatic patients, bringing the total to 1 033.
The vast majority of cases and deaths have been registered in Wuhan, the city in the centre of the country, where the virus made its first appearance last year before spreading worldwide, killing more than 70 000 people.
Quarantine on the 23rd of January, the city must lift its containment measures on Wednesday, people in good health being, in principle, permitted to leave the metropolis of 11 million inhabitants.
