Beijing | A Chinese school teacher has been sentenced to death for poisoning 25 kindergarten students, one of whom was killed, justice said.
Jiaozuo City Intermediate Court in Central Henan Province on Tuesday found teacher Wang Yun guilty of putting sodium nitrite in a porridge served to a colleague's students in March 2019. for which she sought revenge.
Sodium nitrite is a chemical used in particular for preserving meat, but which can be toxic in high doses.
According to the court, Ms. Wang knew the product was harmful but still decided to poison the children “regardless of the consequences.”
The teacher was not at her first attempt, according to the justice system, which discovered that she had also tried to poison her husband in 2017 following a marital dispute.
