The coronavirus has spared virtually no one at the CHSLD Herron Dorval, then, that 114 of the 130 residents have been infected, according to our information.
The mass screening of the residents in NURSING homes led to a surge in the number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 for a few days.
Thus, residences for the elderly are now 3313 cases, of which 1036 in three days, according to data from the ministry of Health and social Services (MSSS).
Without surprise, the CHSLD Herron, where 31 seniors have died in recent weeks, is one of the places hardest hit.
According to our information, fifty new cases have just been confirmed. This brings the total to 114 people infected out of 130 (87%).
Officially, the balance of the MSSS is always a state of a total of 61 cases, because the CIUSSS of the West-of-the-Island-of-Montreal-said he was still waiting for the latest lab results yesterday.
This explains that the residence is not listed among the 10 worst NURSING homes in Quebec (see below).
Almost all of the world
“It’s almost everyone [who has been infected at the CHSLD Herron],” says Johanne Riendeau, president of the Union of professional health care on the West Island of Montréal.
“The residence is now under our wing and I can tell you that the residents have good care,” she says.
Officially, the number of deaths attributable to the COVID-19 in this establishment is always five.
The situation continues to worsen as the CHSLD Sainte-Dorothée, Laval, then that will add 19 new cases. It is now 72 % of residents who have been contaminated in this residence.
Mass screening has also led to a surge in the number of cases at the CHSLD Laurendeau in Montreal, which is spent in a few days from 29 to 145, according to figures from the DHSS.
It is now the establishment, where it counts the most in number. The CIUSSS of the North-of-the-Island-of-Montreal also confirms 24 dead.
The nurses are concerned, because the supply blouses and disinfectant is waiting and they are afraid to miss the end of this week, we said Kathleen Bertrand, president of the Syndicat des professionnelles en soins du Nord-de-l’île-de-Montréal.
The Centre Grace Dart extended care, which had only one case on 7 April, there are now 62.
According to Ms. Riendeau, the movement of personnel between this property and the accommodation Centre de LaSalle may have increased the number of infections.
All residents underwent a test and for the moment, it does not died at Grace Dart.
“The virus is spreading at breakneck speed. And usually, they die within 7 to 10 days later, so we’re following it closely, ” insists Ms. Riendeau.
The Centre d’hébergement LaSalle, decreased from 47 to 99 in a few days. According to our information, the balance sheet is now 30 dead.
