Close to$ 5,000 of fines: a race that is (very) expensive

Près de 5000$ d’amendes: une course qui coûte (très) cher

To have made an illegal racing and driving at very high speed near a small village in the Chaudière-Appalaches, a young driver of 17 years and a driver of 44 years have raised tickets, totalling nearly$5000.

To 16h, Tuesday, a police officer from the Sûreté du Québec, which made the traffic surveillance has picked up two vehicles racing at 165 km/h in a zone of 90 km/h, on route 283, in direction south, in Saint-Fabien-de-Panet.

This town of 1000 souls is located to the south of Montmagny, close to the u.s. border.

The invoice for the lady of forty is reached 3005 or$ 1459$ for speeding, and 1546$ for the race. To this is added a total of 26 demerit points.

As for the 17-year-old, he was accused of the same crimes, but the amounts to take are less, as he is a minor. For him, the two fines are 958$ each. Demerit points are the same.

As is often the case in this type of case, the driving licences of both drivers have been suspended for a period of seven days.

The SQ is not clear whether any bond unites the offenders.

The police stressed, however, that this intercept demonstrates that it performs operations of road safety on the whole territory, even in more remote areas.
