Colorado Democrats Block Declassification of Information Related to COVID-19 Origins

Colorado Democrats voted along party lines to block a request to the White House to declassify intelligence related to the origins of the COVID-19 virus.

The measure failed in a vote of 216 to 207 parties in the House on Tuesday, although it was approved unanimously in the Senate in May.

US Senator Josh Hawley’s bill would have required the Biden administration to declassify intelligence related to any potential link between the Wuhan Institute of Virology and the origins of the pandemic.

The Colorado Democrats who voted against transparency were US representatives. Diana DeGette, Ed Perlmutter, Joe Neguse, and Jason Crow.

Republicans who supported the intelligence declassification included US representatives. Ken Buck, Don Lamborn, and Lauren Boebert.

It’s troublesome when even the spiteful Senate can reach bipartisan agreement on the importance of determining the origins of a virus that has plagued the planet for nearly two years.

For Colorado’s Congressional Democrats to think that their affected constituents do not deserve an answer is the height of arrogance.

Even the Democrats deserve better.
