Containment extended to employees of the State will continue to be paid

Confinement prolongé: Les employés de l'État continueront d'être payés

State employees can rest easy. François Legault says that they will continue to receive their salary, even if the confinement was to last for several more months.

For the time being, the schools are closed until the 1st of may. But the prime minister has already mentioned a number of scenarios are more pessimistic, expecting a closure of the schools until late in the fall.

François Legault was held on Thursday to be reassuring. Even if the pandemic coronavirus should stretch over time and that the containment measures were to be prolonged, even in December, the public sector workers have nothing to fear.

“Currently, there is no scenario of layoffs or not to pay the employees who work for the government of Québec, including the networks,” he said, categorically, during his daily press conference on the state of propagation of the COVID-19.
