Coronavirus: more than 2700 deaths in 24 hours in the United States, one of the worst balance sheets daily

Coronavirus: plus de 2700 morts en 24 heures aux États-Unis, l’un des pires bilans journaliers

WASHINGTON | The number of dead in 24 hours is suddenly on the rise again in the United States on Tuesday, with 2751 additional deaths related to the new coronavirus, according to the counting of the Johns Hopkins university, is one of the most staggering recorded on the day by a country.

The day before, the United States had complained a little over 1400 deaths in 24 hours. The country has also surpassed Tuesday, the bar of the 800 000 cases officially identified, with nearly 40,000 additional cases between Monday, 20: 30 and the same time Tuesday, according to figures from the university, which will be updated continuously.

According to the balance sheets of official releases by each nation, the United States is by far the most affected country both in number of dead (44 845 in total) than diagnosed cases (more than 820 000), even if the president, Donald Trump regularly accuses China of lying about its numbers and to count, in reality, more deaths than America.

Some 75 000 Americans are declared cured.

At the end of last week, the United States had experienced two very heavy balance sheets daily (to over 3800 and 4500 dead), but these were in part due to the addition of the dead “probably related” to the COVID-19, which had previously not been taken into account.

The previous record of 24 hours had also been registered in the United States, with more than 2500 dead on 15 April.

“I see the light at the end of the tunnel”, however, has repeated Donald Trump on Tuesday during his daily press conference on the new coronavirus.

The situation is improving, particularly in the city of New York, which alone accounts for more than 14,000 deaths related to the disease, as well as Chicago, Boston, New Orleans, and in the urban area of Detroit, said Tuesday that Dr. Deborah Birx, a member of the crisis unit of the White House on the virus. She also noted a thinning in the States of Rhode Island and Connecticut, close to New York.

She noted, however, that no decrease was noted in the region of the capital, Washington.
