The influential businessman Peter Sergakis and the Union of the tenants of the bars of Quebec (UTBQ) were called via a petition to the reopening of restaurants, and this, starting from the 1st June next.
The UTBQ, which is chaired by Mr. Sergakis, asks the government of Quebec for the resumption of activities in all of the resto-bars, bars, terraces and restaurants of the province to this date. In the petition, it is stated that this recovery would be accomplished by respecting the safety instructions issued by the authorities in public health.
The non-profit organization also mentions that workers in the sector are “forgotten governments”, that a reopening would be “fundamental to the survival of our institutions” and that steps in that direction would “put an end to the gloom caused by the pandemic”.
In the morning, about 9000 individuals had joined their voices to that of the UTBQ, so that we want to reach a goal of 10,000 signatures. The petition was launched Monday, on the web site change.org.
In the past few weeks, the restaurant owners of the province were open to several concessions to re-open their establishments. The government Legault however, there has still not revealed in any of the plan with respect to this sector of the economy.
