COVID-19: emergency fund of$ 500,000 to the Université Laval

Laval University set up an emergency fund of half a million dollars for students struggling with a difficult financial situation, which could get up to$ 1500.

An application form has been made available online by the institution, on the website of the Office of scholarships and financial aid. The objective is to pay the amount within a period of one week after receipt of the request.

The amount awarded will be determined in function of each case and taking into account the government benefits announced,” says the institution in a press release.

By this measure, emergency financial assistance, Laval University wants to assist those who have lost their jobs and have difficulty “to meet their immediate needs”.

Efforts continue to enhance the emergency fund.

The rector of Université Laval Sophie D’amours, involves in addition the major financial institutions to put in place quickly, for the students, micro-credit programmes that could be “determinant in their ability to complete their studies and then contribute to the recovery of our company, which will be great need”.
