Covid-19 in France: 190 new deaths in hospital and 17,565 contaminations in 24 hours

On this first day of the Christmas holidays, the circulation of the virus is not weakening. France recorded 190 new deaths linked to Covid-19 in hospitals this Saturday, and 17,565 new positive cases. Last Saturday, there were around 14,000.

The health authorities have identified 1,004 new hospitalizations, including 123 in intensive care units. A total of 24,819 patients are currently hospitalized following a Covid-19 infection, including 2,718 in intensive care.

What about the target of 5,000 contaminations desired by the government? Still very distant. In 24 hours, 17,565 people tested positive for Covid-19, compared to 15,674 infections on Friday. The positivity rate rose to 5.6% this Saturday, according to Public Health France.

As for deaths, the total number of deaths linked to Covid-19 has been 60,418 in France since the start of the epidemic in March, including 41,618 in hospital.
