COVID-19 in the bars: the public health of Quebec to remain vigilant

COVID-19 dans les bars: la santé publique de Québec reste vigilante

While we observe a surge in cases of COVID-19 in the bars of the metropolitan area because of the many contacts generated, the public health in the National Capital said it remained vigilant.

At least five bars in montreal have been visited by people infected with the COVID-19 since their reopening, for a total of eight cases detected.

In view of this fact, which would only be the tip of the iceberg, the Montreal public health calls on all the people who visited a bar since the 1st of July to do a screening test.

“We are monitoring the situation closely”

In Quebec, although it is stated that no outbreak was identified in a restaurant or bar in the region, it ensures to keep the eye open and be prepared for any eventuality.

“This is the preferred method currently, it really is a preventive approach with our squads which move in the bars and restaurants. It was a super nice collaboration with the owners until now,” says the spokesperson for the CIUSSS of the Capitale-Nationale, Annie Ouellet.

“We do not live in the same reality as Montreal, want to remember. It is not at the shelter, but we are monitoring the situation closely.”

In the province

Québec is home to 114 people infected for more than the day before, for a total of 56 521, according to the latest balance sheet of the national Directorate of public health.
