The axe continues to fall on the big rallies planned in Québec this summer. The Festival mémoire et Racines has not been able to withstand the onslaught of the COVID-19.
The 26th edition of the event, which was scheduled to begin on 22 July and conclude on the 26th of July, in the Lanaudière region, has been cancelled, announced the organizers in a press release issued Friday.
They are now appointments to the public in July 2021.
“The Festival mémoire et Racines without proximity, it is like a fiddle without a bow, a gigueuse without shoes or a song to answer without response, it is unimaginable!”, have they imaged.
Last year, the team of this festival has celebrated 25 years of marriage between the music and traditions here. Thanks to many musicians, dancers and storytellers, artistic events were held at Saint-Charles-Borromée, Joliette and Notre-Dame-des-Prairies. Among the groups present, there was The North Wind, The Great Howler, and Time In the Past.
