The department of Justice has authorized on Saturday a notary to sign the deeds at a distance, that will offer the service from Wednesday.
This service, however, will be put in place gradually, said the Chamber of notaries.
“It became imperative for our organization to provide technological alternatives to the notaries who wish to, in order that the legal protection of the public is ensured, but also the physical integrity of all; notaries as customers”, indicated by way of a press release François Bibeau, president of the College.
The solutions available will allow notaries to meet their ethical obligations, legislative and regulatory, while providing citizens with a notarial act compliant, which can make faith before the courts, the content, the accuracy of the date and signatures, without it being necessary to prove it.
The Chamber recalled that these solutions are an alternative offered to notaries, and to clients who have transactions urgent to carry out and does not constitute an obligation of service for the notaries of Quebec.
