Public health authorities are currently analysing the possibility of applying more stringent measures for the city of Montreal, the largest-ever outbreak of contagious coronavirus of the province.
The Metropolis had Wednesday, 603 cases of infection to the COVID-19, that is to say 45% of all cases in Quebec. And the spread of the virus appears to affect more sectors in the Centre-West of the island, such as Côte-Saint-Luc and the Côte-des-Neiges.
“The montreal area is really a “hotspot”, agreed Thursday to the national Director of public health, during his daily press conference.
Dr. Horacio Arruda has admitted that several scenarios are currently being studied to try to curb the spread of the coronavirus in Montreal.
“If it is necessary to take certain measures in connection with the transit, with some neighborhoods or etc, we will see what we can do,” he said. It makes it possible for us to recommend to the prime minister, tomorrow, or after tomorrow or after tomorrow, things that are adaptable, feasible, and relevant”.
By then, the Dr. Horacio has requested the population of the Metropolis to follow religiously the health rules in force.
“In the montreal region, as there are more cases, more likely to meet a virus, (it is necessary) to apply the measures that we are saying to you. It is even more important to Montreal, he insisted. If it is necessary to add measures, monitors, it checks to see what is happening, we’ll do it”.
