While the government Legault is required to submit this week a plan déconfinement of Quebec, the CPE shall ensure be prepared.
“Of course, the educators are worried to see a large number of children arrive in the middle, but we are working actively with public health to protect the educators at the re-opening,” assured Geneviève Bélisle, executive director of the Association québécoise des centres de la petite enfance (AQCPE), in an interview with LCN Sunday morning.
She stresses that many educators have continued to work during the crisis by joining the child care services emergency, put in place for parents who work in essential services.
Ms. Bélisle is delighted that this service has worked very well in the last five weeks.
“There have been very few cases of [COVID-19] among children and educators”, mentioned the director of the AQCPE.
The reopening of the CPE, of course, is more difficult.
Geneviève Bélisle agreed that the principle of distancing of social work with children will be difficult to enforce. For the reopening of the EPC, it is expected that the educators receive protective equipment.
In this regard, the discussions are going well with the authorities.
“It was part of a consultation last week and I imagine that new measures are going to happen for the next phase of this pandemic, and that of the individual equipment will be proposed,” added Ms. Bélisle
