Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers have reportedly made significant progress in resolving their differences, but the current MVP is likely entering his final season with the team.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Rodgers and the Packers are close to a deal that bring Rodgers back to the team for one more season. The deal, which Schefter describes as “closed,” does not include more money. However, the Packers are modifying Rodgers’ contract in a way that would ensure he can leave Green Bay next year.
Rodgers has three more years left on his current contract, but the Packers agreed to void the last year in 2023. They also agreed not to put the franchise tag on Rodgers.
