After the qualifications marked by the rain, the Quebec Lance Stroll will start the race in 13th position at the Grand Prix of Styria Formula 1, Austria, on Sunday.
Stroll, on Racing Point, has managed to reach the second phase of qualifications, on Saturday, but his time of 1 min 19,645 s. was then placed at 13th level, just behind the two cars-Ferrari and the surprising George Russell (Williams).
The champion Lewis Hamilton, at the wheel of his Mercedes, won the pole position, ahead of Max Verstappen (Red Bull). The team-mate to Stroll, Sergio Perez, for his part, disappointed with a short day and a 17th place.
The third free practice session had been cancelled, in the morning, and the qualifications had been delayed due to thunderstorms.
The outcome of the qualifications is still very disappointing to Stroll and Perez. Friday, they had done very well in the first two rounds of free practice. At a certain moment, with the rain continuing and the weather forecast for Sunday, it was believed even that the second session was going to be office of the qualifications. In the event of such a scenario, Perez (third) and Stroll (fourth) would have been able to begin the second Grand Prix of the season in the second row.
Their work will eventually be much more complicated, but with the rain announced, everything seems to be possible.
