A motorcyclist was killed after colliding with an SUV on Route 148 in Mansfield-et-Pontefract, Outaouais, around 8:45 p.m. Saturday.
The motorcyclist was traveling eastbound in a 50 km / h zone. The driver of the SUV entered Route 148 from rue Poirier and hit the motorcycle head-on.
The motorcyclist was a 50 year old man from Fort-Coulonge. He was pronounced dead in hospital.
The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) described the SUV as “at fault”.
The impact was so strong that the SUV rolled over.
Extrication tongs were used to extricate the 21-year-old driver from the vehicle, whose injuries were serious.
Two investigators were dispatched to the scene to reconstruct the incident.
“An investigation is underway regarding dangerous driving,” the SQ said.
