Constantinople does not exclude the possibility of providing the Ukrainian Church status of Patriarchate.
Honorary Patriarch of the Orthodox Church Filaret told under what conditions the newly formed Church will be able to obtain the status of a Patriarchate.
According to Filaret, he was not invited to Istanbul for the presentation of Thomas, because he is in the rank of Patriarch, and PCU is in the status of the Archdiocese, informs Rus.Media.
“I was not invited because they do not want to recognize the UOC, the status of the Patriarchate and recognize is only in the status of Archdiocese. And I’m the Patriarch, and if I were to attend this presentation as the Patriarch, it means that the Ecumenical Patriarch to recognize the Ukrainian Church status of Patriarchate,” said the priest.
However, he pointed out that Constantinople does not exclude the possibility of providing the Ukrainian Church status of Patriarchate.
“If all the Ukrainian Orthodox to unite in one Church, it will be the basis for granting the UOC the status of Patriarchate. We therefore Patriarchy, but only in Ukraine that is unrecognized by the Patriarchy. And we’re recognized as Metropolitan of Kiev”, − said Filaret.
He believes that the task of the Ukrainian Church is “the continuation of the Union with parishes and clergy of the Moscow Patriarchate.”
“When we unite, then contact the Ecumenical Patriarch with a request to provide us the status of the Patriarchate”, − concluded the Patriarch.
Add, February 3, took place the ceremony of the enthronement of the Primate of the Orthodox Church, Metropolitan of Kiev and all Ukraine, the Epiphany, which completed all the procedures, say the autocephaly of the UOC.
