The head of the non-canonical Orthodox Church of Ukraine, Metropolitan Epiphanius declared that the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Kyiv Patriarchate and the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church legally ceased to exist. He said this during the so-called Synod of bishops. In the document adopted at this meeting, also calls for the head of the UOC-KP Patriarch Filaret “reconcile” and “end the isolation”. Earlier Filaret has said repeatedly that his organization is not liquidated, although it had entered DNC at the time of formation of the “United” Church. Experts believe that the split within the non-canonical ptsu will only deepen.

About this on his page in Facebook said the representative of the PCU Eustratius Zorya.
In addition, in a paper published after the completion of the Cathedral ptsu, contains a decree concerning the liquidated head of the UOC-KP Filaret. His call for “reconciliation” and an “end to isolation”, and he guaranteed “the position of honorary Patriarch” and “ensuring his life and work”.
Recall the elimination of the UOC-KP in July 2019 was announced by the Ministry of culture of Ukraine, noting that the Church was eliminated by joining “the Kyivan Metropolitanate” of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine. The decision on liquidation adopted on July 27 the Holy Synod of the ptsu.
The Synod also decided to set up as part of the non-canonical Church structures the organization of the mission, which should be headed by the head of the schismatic UOC-KP Filaret after the liquidation of his Church structures.Meanwhile, Filaret has repeatedly stated that the UOC-KP continues to exist, although initially he agreed to the establishment of the PCU through the merger, headed by religious organizations with the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church. “Patriarch” even accused the Holy Synod of the PCU in triggering religious conflict in Ukraine.
Experts have repeatedly indicated that Filaret was obviously hoping for if not to stand at the head of the new “United Church”, then at least to play a significant role in the management of this structure. When he was not able to achieve, it is said that the UOC-KP have not been eliminated, and tried to recover lost ground.
According to Professor of St. Tikhon Orthodox humanitarian University Vladislav parsley, Filaret still can’t bear the thought that he had lost his influence.
“After the Synod adopted a decision to issue an honorable discharge Filaret, allocating him a house and a structure named “mission”, Filaret did not accept it and stated that it will continue to fight for the preservation of a Kievan Patriarchate. It is obvious that Filaret has not taken seriously and those whom he has nourished and brought up, including Dumenko himself, everyone now understands that the man has become a burden. Filaret clearly does not want to accept the fact that he “did the deed” and that at the head of this schismatic structure, recognized as the Constantinople, it is not to be,” said parsley.

We will remind, the so-called Orthodox Church in Ukraine emerged after the merger of the two dissenting bodies: the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Kyiv Patriarchate and the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church. The creation of ptsu was actively supported by ex-President Petro Poroshenko, speaking for the emergence in Ukraine of a new local Church, which had no relationship to the Russian Orthodox Church.
In this case the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate refused to participate in the “unification Council”.15 December 2018 Council adopted the decision on the establishment of the so-called Orthodox Church of Ukraine, after which Filaret declared “honorary Patriarch” and head of the DNC was a former Bishop of the UOC-KP Epiphany (Dumenko), which received the title “Metropolitan of Kiev and all Ukraine”.
The new structure is not recognized by most local churches. In addition to the Patriarchate of Constantinople, which decided to grant autocephaly DNC, communication with her was established only of the Greek and Alexandrian Church.
After the decision on liquidation of the UOC Filaret held a local Council, where he said the abolition of the dissolution of the UOC and the output of the organization from ptsu. He also said that the Tomos of autocephaly, which Epiphanius gave the Patriarch of Constantinople Bartholomew 6 January 2019 does not match the status of the Autocephalous churches and puts DNC in dependence on the Patriarchate of Constantinople.
The Deputy head of the Department for external Church relations of the Moscow Patriarchate Archpriest Nikolai Balashov, in an interview with RT said that lately the situation has only worsened.
“The split always creates a new split. That the brainchild of the so-called Patriarch Filaret, excommunicated from the Church of Mikhail Antonovich Denisenko, instead of reunification is undergoing new divisions”, — he said. The expert added that Filaret will be to fight for the preservation of the structure, which he heads.
“Can’t call the uniting Church of dissenters, headed by Serhiy Dumenko, who calls himself Metropolitan Epiphanius. I think that in this hastily stitched the Association will continue to occur and increase the internal contradictions. This is the logic of the split”, — said Balashov.Natalia Sergievskaya, Pauline Poletaeva
