    The vaccine campaign against Covid-19 started this Monday, January 4 in New Aquitaine. The Long Term Care Unit (USLD) Jean-#Vignalou welcomed, at 1 p.m., the first candidates for vaccination.

    “We prepared this campaign by carrying out a collection of consents in December, says Maritxu Blanzaco. Residents who agree to the vaccine will be vaccinated starting today. The regional campaign is starting here and in Charente-#Maritime as well. ”

    This week, another USLD, in Orthez, will see its residents access the Pfizer vaccine. As well as another to be determined in Nay or Pontacq.

    Two vaccination centers for caregivers

    A second vaccination campaign will also begin in the coming days, driven by the acceleration of the government’s vaccination strategy.

    “The caregivers were to be vaccinated a little later but we will go faster, explains Maritxu Blanzaco. We are going to open two vaccination centers for health personnel in the hospitals of Pau and Bayonne. ”

    The François-#Mitterrand Hospital Center and the Basque Coast Hospital Center will arrange a space to accommodate doctors, nurses, nursing assistants as well as administrative staff of health establishments.

    “These two campaigns launched, we will then move to nursing homes,” adds the director of the ARS for the 64.

    The Bayonne hospital will receive 5,000 doses of vaccines on Wednesday. The start of vaccination is set for Thursday in the five nursing homes that depend on the establishment. Residents and health professionals are called upon to be vaccinated.
