The absence of a parade in France on the occasion of the 14 July is the first time since the end of the Second world war.
This year, the military ceremony that will include ” a device, tightened, reduced to 2000 participants and about 2,500 guests “, in compliance with the rules of distancing physics, announced on Thursday that the French presidency.
“This will be a July 14, reinvented and adapted to the circumstances,” said Thursday the minister for the Armed forces Florence Parly during a parliamentary hearing.
It is not intended for the moment to open the event to the general public, but the situation could be reassessed by July 14, according to health conditions.
The ceremony, which will include an air parade, “will honor the participation of our armed forces to the fight against the Covid-19” and “will also pay tribute to carers, that the French have celebrated each evening during the confinement period as well as the set of actors mobilized against the virus,” said the Elysée.
Four countries – Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Luxembourg, have been invited, to thank them for having supported them in their hospitals of the French patients.
Will be as well a place of honour, the military units mobilized in the fight against the coronavirus under the umbrella of operation Resilience, launched on 25 march by the president and Emmanuel Macron, depending on the service, the military Governor of Paris.
The Service de santé des armées (SSA), very mobilized since the beginning of the crisis, will be particularly put in the spotlight, alongside other units such as the medical regiment of the army. The latter had participated in the opening of a medical facility resuscitation (EMR) of 30 beds in Mulhouse (East).

Tribute to general de Gaulle
The edition 2020 will also include a tribute to general Charles de Gaulle, celebrated this year on the occasion of a double anniversary: his death, fifty years ago, and the appeal of 18 June 1940.
At the opening of the ceremony, a table will be dedicated to it and the crew of the single French aircraft carrier, which bears his name, will be represented on place de la Concorde. Two-thirds of the seamen of the Charles de Gaulle airport have been infected with the new coronavirus during their last mission in the sea. Today, they are all healed.

Other countries have reduced the scope of major official ceremonies under the pressure of the Covid-19. Only the aerial part of the parade had been maintained.
