Geoff John’s teases upcoming Arrowverse crossover

Geoff Johns has talked about how Jay Garrick’s appearance in season two of Star Girl opens the series to the Arrowverse.

Star Girl is set to return for its second season in less than a month, leaving many fans excited to see the continued adventures of Courtney Whitmore, a high school student wielding the power of the Cosmic Staff. The series acts in parallel to the Arrowverse, since the characters of the teen series appeared in the Crisis on Infinite Earths Special offers. While it has been established that Star Girl is connected to the Arrowverse, a kind of monumental crossover has yet to happen. However, it has been confirmed that The Flash’s Jay Gerrick will appear in the second season.

Geoff Johns, the creator of the series, spoke about what Jay Garrick’s appearance means to Star Girl during a press event for the second season of the Stargirl series. Johns also broke down how Garrick’s appearance will directly link the series to major events in the Arrowverse.

“I grew up watching The flash TV show, he was my favorite superhero when I was a kid and I was blown away by John Wesley Shipp when he played The Flash and then I was lucky enough to work with him on The flash. And when he started playing Jay Garrick and we introduced our version of the Justice Society and we’re on Earth 2 like the comics, we’re on our own Earth separate from the rest of these shows, but for John to play Jay Garrick. The Flash in Star Girl, connects our universe directly with the other programs and also shows that we are part of a greater universe. And it opens the door to opportunities to eventually interact with those characters. And that was important, just like the comics, and when we do, we will do it in a very special way. Star Girl way. “
