SAGUENAY | police Service of Saguenay request the assistance of the public to find the perpetrator of a hit-and-run that occurred Wednesday afternoon on the rue Fafard, in the area of Chicoutimi, in the Saguenay.
A pedestrian 89-year-old was struck by a vehicle. The driver took the flight immediately after the impact.
The accident occurred in the middle of the day, between 14: 50 and 15 h, according to the police of Saguenay. The octogenarian would be down from a bus of the Société de transport du Saguenay. And it is going on foot towards his residence, with his grocery bags, he was struck in the edge of the rue Fafard.
Despite his significant injuries, the pedestrian was able to recover and make it home to contact the emergency services.
“On the scene, it was found that the man had several injuries to the face and legs. We even saw the trace of a tire that had struck on his legs,” explained the spokesperson for the Service de police de Saguenay, Bruno Cormier.
The man was transported to the hospital. It does not fear for his life, but his injuries are serious.
Confused, the pedestrian was not in a position to provide the description of the vehicle that struck him.
The police of Saguenay, therefore, requested the collaboration of the population in order to find the fugitive.
“We do not know the brand of the vehicle, or the colour of the vehicle. […] It is completely in the nothingness. We search for information, search for witnesses,” said Mr. Cormier.
