The Quebec Lance Stroll led a race without error to finish at the foot of the podium, Sunday, at the occasion of the Formula 1 Grand Prix of Hungary on Sunday in Budapest.

Taking the start of the third place, behind the two Mercedes, Stroll has lost the advantage in the first round of pit stops to face Max Verstappen (Red Bull). The latter finished second, behind Lewis Hamilton but ahead of Valtteri Bottas.

It is the second best result of the career of Stroll, equaling his performance in the German Grand Prix last year. It is mounted on the third step of the podium at the Grand Prix of Azerbaijan in 2017.

Verstappen opportunistic

The start of the race took place on a runway soggy due to rain showers in the morning in Budapest. Very skilled in these conditions, Verstappen took the opportunity to quickly move up into second position. It was the start of the seventh position.

Stuck behind Stroll to the third tier after a few rounds, he has past his opponent for a canadian going to the gum for a dry track later than that.

Alexander Albon (Red Bull), Sebastian Vettel (Ferrari), Sergio Perez (Racing Points), Daniel Ricciardo (Renault), Kevin Magnussen (Haas) and Carlos Sainz son (McLaren) completed the top 10.

With this victory, Hamilton has taken the top position in the drivers ‘ standings with 63 points, 5 more than his team-mate Bottas. Verstappen was third, with 33 points. Stroll is eighth (18 points).

The next race will be the Grand Prix of Great Britain, on 2 August.
