Any door to believe that the hope of the New York Islanders Ilya Sorokin will finally make its North American debut during the next season.
The guardian of 24 years would, in effect, rejected a contract extension proposed by CSKA Moscow in the kontinental hockey League (KHL), according to what was revealed Sunday, the daily Russian “Sport-Express”.
The director-general Lou Lamoriello had already stated to the web site of the Islanders at the end of the month of march that he had “every reason to believe that [Sorokin] would be with the team this fall.”
The doorman will now have to wait until the end of his contract, which ends on 30 April, to accept a pact with the Islanders.
Sorokin has been a choice of the third round of the Islanders in 2014. It has, nevertheless, played six seasons with CSKA, winning the passage of the cup Gagarin in 2019. He has participated three times in the final.
In 2019-2020, Sorokin has kept a record of 26-10-3, an average goals allowed of 1.50 and an efficiency rate of ,935.
