An earthquake of magnitude 5.9 was recorded at 3:40 local time about 100 kilometers from Yuzhno-Kurilsk, reported on the website EMERCOM of Russia across the Sakhalin region. The epicenter of earthquake was at a depth of 50 kilometers.
“The earthquake felt the residents of the village. Yuzhno-Kurilsk and S. Malokurilskoe. According to testimony, amusement the earthquake made up 2 points”, – reads the statement of the Ministry.
And suffered no damage. A tsunami alert has not been announced.
In the Kuril Islands this is the second earthquake in a day. Earlier it was reported that the island of Shikotan was recorded earthquake of a magnitude of 5.8 points.
