Today, December 12, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine should extend the law on the special status of Donbass. It was taken in September 2014 for a period of 3 years, and has twice extended – in the year 2017, and in 2018 to 31 December 2019.
On the eve of an important vote, “the Servant of the people” stated that develop a new draft law on the special status of Donbass, which would not involve amendments to the Constitution.
This was stated by first Deputy head of the faction “servant of the people”, Alexander Kornienko, as RBC-Ukraine.
According to him, MPs will develop a new law on the special status after renewal of the current.
“No, (amendments to the Constitution of Ukraine, – Ed.) we are not talking. That new law that we will develop the permanent status, it’s probably closer to the amendments to the Constitution. And as far as I know, changes to the Constitution regarding decentralization do not provide any special status to any specific areas or cities,” – said Alexander Kornienko.
