Inflation in Ukrainian: vegetables are more expensive, clothes are cheaper

Statistics officials messed up overdue bills for heating.

Inflation in the consumer market in January compared to December 2018 was 1%, while in annual terms prices rose by 9.2%. According to the State statistics service. So, in January prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages increased by 2.1%. And the record rise in price of steel, the vegetables, the cost of which increased on average by 16.6%, informs Rus.Media.

In the second place fruit, milk and dairy products, grain products, butter, bread (4,7-0,9%). Prices of alcoholic beverages and tobacco rose 1.2%, tobacco products – by 2%, alcoholic beverages – by 0.5%.

But clothing and footwear fell by 4.6%, in particular shoes – 4.8% – 4.5%. Albeit slightly, in the range of 0.5-0.1%, but has fallen in price eggs, pork and rice.

The rising cost of housing services is mainly due to the increase in tariffs for heating by 11%, hot water – by 9.4%, Sewerage – by 2.8%, water – by 1.4%. But a little decrease in prices under “transport” – mostly because of the cost of fuel and oils 6.1%. However, 5.5% increased travel in rail passenger transport.

In the field of communication prices rose 2.5%, due to the rise in local telephony by 17.9% and postal services by 14.3%, according to the state statistics service.

Recall that core inflation in January 2019 compared to December last year amounted to 0.3%, by January 2018 to 8.3%. In turn, the national Bank expects that by the end of the year inflation will slow to 6.3% at the beginning of 2020 will be within the target range (5% +/- 1 percentage point).
