The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) has arrested a man from Sherbrooke for various offenses relating to child pornography.
The SQ’s Investigative Team on Internet Sexual Exploitation arrested Predrag Remic, 29, on Wednesday.
The latter appeared Wednesday at the Sherbrooke courthouse to face charges of possession, distribution, to have accessed and made available child pornography, announces the SQ in a press release released Friday.
He also allegedly stored firearms in contravention of a regulation contained in the Firearms Act, it adds.
The police conducted a search of the suspect’s home and computer equipment was seized for analysis.
The Child Sexual Exploitation on the Internet Investigation Team (ISIS) brings together investigators from the Sûreté du Québec and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. This team is part of the Special Investigations Project Service of the Criminal Investigations Branch. Since the implementation of the provincial strategy of the Sûreté du Québec in the fight against the sexual exploitation of children in 2012, nearly 400 arrests have been made. Thanks to this, several hundred victims have been identified.
