The President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev today celebrates his birthday. Policy turned 66 years, the Agency Sputnik.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev was born on 17 may 1953 in Almaty in the family of the writer Camelia Tokayev and teacher Turar Saparbaeva.
In 1970 he graduated from secondary school № 25 in the southern capital of the Republic, after which he entered the Moscow state Institute of international relations. In 1992 he graduated from the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.
In 1975, he started his career at the Ministry of foreign Affairs of the USSR in the position of duty assistant. In different years worked as the Secretary of the foreign Ministry of the Soviet Union.
From 1993 to 1994 he held the post of Deputy Minister of foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan. In 1994-1999 he headed the diplomatic service.
In 1999, he was Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic. From 1999 to 2002, he worked as the acting Prime Minister, the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan.
In 2002-2003 appointed Secretary of state – Minister of foreign Affairs. From 2003 to 2007 he headed the foreign Ministry.
In 2007-2011, he was elected member of Parliament, was Chairman of the Senate of Kazakhstan of the third convocation.
From 2011 to 2013 he worked as the Deputy of the UN Secretary General, head of the European office of the United Nations in Geneva. 16 Oct 2013 elected as the speaker of the Senate.
On 19 March the leader of the nation Nursultan Nazarbayev announced the resignation of the President. He gave the government into the hands Tokayev. 20 Mar Tokayev officially took up his duties. In early April, he delivered a televised address in which he announced the holding of early presidential elections of Kazakhstan. They will take place on 9 June. Tokayev will take part in them from the ruling party “Nur-Otan”.
